Detecting the correct positioning of a dropdown

We had an issue regarding dropdowns getting being spawned out of bounds for a long time. The problem was not that we did not want to solve it. The problem was that we did not where the problem comes from.

So, what do we do in such situations? We follow the Moldable Development principle: build a tool that shows the problem.
